"You don't need your saxophone (piano, cello, violin or voice) to make music. Your free leg is the only instrument you need." -Terpsichoral Tango Addict
A tanguera who really knows how to express herself with her free leg - Virginia Pandolfi. Virginia is a popular tango teacher and performer based in Buenos Aires.
I like her attitude! Ladies let your free leg express you, in a meaningful way. "The free leg is my voice! That's why I don't 'collect' automatically after every step. What I allow the free leg to do -- whether to swing out around behind me, to decorate, even to place it next to the other as though collecting, but it's not automatic, it's because I *choose* to do that at that moment -- it's because *I* want to use it that way -- I do all of that in order to communicate, to say something.
I'm not saying that women should decorate like crazy without a reason. No! I decorate a lot, but when I decorate I'm talking and I don't want to talk without having something worthwhile to say (or else people will stop listening). But my free leg is my voice and if I don't use it to express myself my dance will be mute." (Virginia Pandolfi)
Here you can see Virginia's very expressive free leg in action...
