Students' Celebration, September 10, 2017
SoTango Students' Celebrations are held every 7 weeks. This is a great opportunity for all students (current and former*) to practice social tango dancing in a supportive and friendly environment.
*Suitable for anyone who has completed at least our Level 1 course or equivalent.
Theme: 'Black White & Red' - wear any one or all of these colours.
When: Sunday, October 22 - between 12.45pm - 6pm.
Where: Mill Hill Centre, 31 - 33 Spring Street, Bondi Junction.
Getting there: The venue is a five minute walk from Bondi Junction Station.

It's possible to attend for the whole afternoon (or part thereof) as you prefer.

What to expect: workshops and social dancing designed so that you:
Can practice and integrate your moves and technique - and take your tango to the next level
Can learn and practice the 'must know' codes of social tango - as preparation for dancing in Sydney's vibrant tango scene!
Have a nice space to connect and party with your fellow students and meet new people.

Workshop: Integrate - A review of all Level 1 moves / concepts
2.30pm - 3.30pm
Recommended for SoTango students who have just completed Level 1 (or equivalent) and as a preparation for the Practilonga. Moves / concept / skills covered are:
Tango walk
Parallel Cross
Ochos - Forward and back
Navigation
Improvisation
Level 3 and 4 students are invited to assist the workshop.
Workshop: Initiate - Essential elements and etiquette of dancing socially
3.30pm - 4pm
A practical and experiential guide to the essential elements of dancing tango socially.
Recommended for anyone new to dancing at milongas (particularly those who did not attend a similar workshop on 10. 9.17). Students are welcome to repeat this workshop.
Practilonga**
4pm - 6pm
Enjoy the opportunity and fun of socially dancing with other students and experienced dancers.
Afternoon tea and cake, wine and cheese and nibbles.
Offerings for the table (liquid, sweet or savoury) are welcomed.
Dress code: Remember the theme is 'Black White & Red'.
**'Practilonga' is a fusion of the tango traditions of 'Practica' and 'Milonga':
The 'Milonga' element: music will be arranged in sets ('tandas') of 3 songs of the same type / style followed by a cortina of 30 seconds (explained more in the Preparation lesson).
The 'Practica' element: beginners can get feedback and advice from Sophia and assistants. What better way to improve your dancing and connect with other students!

Practilonga only: $15
Integrate/Initiate + Practilonga: $25 (Level 1 graduates and anyone not assisting)
Level 3 and 4 students can attend the Integrate and Initiate workshops for free if assisting
