Yoga and Tango

Today's ‪#‎Tango‬ Truism 639: Further along the lines of the moving target that is 'better' Tango, is studying the discipline of Yoga. ©2014 Tango Truisms

Notation: Why study Yoga ? Flexibility and Agility just to name a few. There are several variants of yoga that can achieve the desired results. Because there are literally about 50+ versions of Yoga out there today such as Bikram (ahem), PowerYoga (more ahem), and these are commercialized, cookie cutter versions of yoga training that gets the masses into Yoga. There are 3 styles, or ways of accessing yoga, that are better for you and your Tango experience and they are Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Kripalu Yoga. Ashtanga for its merging breathwork and yoga (which was originally part of the practice by the way) which helps you to control your mind and body. Iyengar for its detailed, slow, and controlled movements that is accessible to beginners. And Kripalu because of slow pace that progresses through to more demanding and ever increasing levels of difficulty while at the same time focusing on the mind body connection. Pick one that works best for you. There are literally hundreds of thousands of yoga teachers out there mixing and matching yoga styles, practices, and ideas. Find one that works for you and go with it. Warning...Yoga is like tango on multiple levels!
